What You Will Need When Moving Household Goods Internationally

Unlike a domestic move, it’s not a simple matter of filling up the moving van and arriving to your new address. Your household shipment, whether it is going by air or sea, will involve additional services that you need to know about.

Wrapping and Packing: Your household goods are going a long way. They need to be packed safely and securely for the move. Our specially trained team of experts will pre-wrap all of your possessions, using the best materials to keep your items safe. Once wrapped, they are placed into wooden cases or cartons. For those unique or very large items, there is custom crating as well. Some examples of custom crated items are:

Pick Up:  At Allied International, we will pick up a household shipment of any size and deliver it where you need it to be. We do this every day as we travel all over the world. Therefore, if your shipment is on the small side, we can include it with others in a shared container service.

Containers:  You may be wondering if you need a very large container. Our moving experts will do an in-home survey to determine what size container you need to have delivered to your home. Then, it’s just a matter of organizing and moving your belongs to their destination.

Air Freight & Ocean Freight: We will prepare your household goods for either air or ocean freight.

• Air freight shipments give you the quickest transit time, but come at premium rates. If you need your goods shipped to a deadline, this is your best option.
• Ocean freight is a safe way for your goods to arrive at their new destination. Rates for ocean freight are more budget-friendly and transit time is more leisurely.

Export Documentation:  If you are unfamiliar with paperwork required for your overseas shipment, your worries are over. At Allied International, we handle all of the paperwork for you. Our moving specialists will help you get all of the documentation exactly right well before your move begins.

Delivery to Your Final Overseas Destination: This is the most important step of all. It’s not enough to get your household goods shipped overseas – they also need to get to your new address! We coordinate your move, and can assure that your precious possessions will arrive right where they need to be and within a window of time agreed upon.

Delivery and Unpacking of Household Goods: When you’ve traveled halfway around the world, the last thing you want to think about is unpacking everything. Let our trained team of experts do it for you. Once your shipment is delivered, they can be there to unpack and arrange everything. They will also take care of the disposal of all the moving materials from your new home.

Marine Insurance with Door-to-Door Coverage: You can rest easy knowing that you have moving insurance that covers any loss or damage from an external source. Right from where they start all the way to their final destination, your household goods are covered.

Storage Solutions: Once you leave your previous address, you may need someplace to store your goods during the transition. Again, no worries. It’s all handled by our moving experts who can offer you a range of storage options and advise you on which of these are the best for all of your household goods.

Start With an Estimate

Wherever you are and wherever you’re going, the first thing you need is an estimate. Your overseas moving costs will be based on either total volume (measured in cubic feet) or the weight of your shipment. Once this has been determined, there are two moving methods for your consideration.

LCL or Less Than Container Load – This is the most common method of moving. We’ll ship your goods in our consolidated containers.

FCL or Full Container Load – This option gives you exclusive use of a 20ft. or a 40ft. container.
